Tom’s passion is helping businesses continually improve and optimizing the results of each dollar invested in the enterprise. His favorite part of being a CFO is translating the strategy of the organization into day to day operational actions, seeing the vision unfold and evolving the organization step by step. He believes the underpinning of business improvement is a deep understanding of the financial results and the value drivers of an organization. Additionally, his extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions and strong relationships with bankers, attorneys, and accountants can be an invaluable asset to a business owner contemplating an exit from their business.
Tom is a CPA and earned a BS degree in Business with a concentration in Accounting from The University of North Carolina at Charlotte. After spending five years auditing and advising small to mid-sized companies at a global accounting and consulting firm, he transitioned into industry. During the next 20 plus years, he held financial roles of increasing scope and responsibility including such roles as Vice President of Finance, Corporate Controller, Vice President-Chief Accounting Officer, and Senior Vice President-Chief Financial Officer. The common themes throughout his career have been improving business results, advising business leaders, and acquiring and integrating new businesses.
During his career, Tom has worked in the Charlotte area, the United Kingdom, Northeast Tennessee, as well as traveling the globe for business. He is now based in Charlotte with his wife and three college/high school age children. They are lovers of travel, sports, the outdoors, and spending time with family and friends.
