The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is primarily responsible for managing the financial risks of a corporation. This position is responsible for financial planning, record-keeping, financial reporting to higher management and has financial authority to make appropriations and authorize expenditures for an organization. You may also hear or see the terms Director of Finance or VP of Finance.
The CFO typically reports to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) / President / Owner and to the Board of Directors.
